Fix Your iPhone 4 With Duct Tape
As ridiculous as it sounds, the problems widely publicized with the iPhone 4 can be fixed by simply using duct tape. “it may not be pretty, but it works,” according to Consumer Reports. The patch – which sounds like it’d be more appropriate for use in the garage than for the iPhone, apparently fixes a problems with the iPhone 4’s metal antenna. Consumer Reports found that people who hold the iPhone 4 in a way that covers up an antenna connector on the phone’s lower left side will experience reception problems and dropped calls. But if you slap a piece of duct tape over the antenna connection, the reception problems go away. Consumer Reports is not recommending the iPhone 4, but says those who already have one can use the duct tape as a patch until another fix is announced. On July 2nd, Apple posted a public letter about the issue saying the problems were perceived, not real. But in the same statement they contradicted themselves and said a software update would fix the problem.
