Jesse James Vandalism Case Postponed
The investigation into Jesse James’ recent run-in with a paparazzo has been postponed because police can’t talk to James while he’s in rehab. Ulises Rios was embroiled in a dispute with Sandra Bullock’s estranged husband last month close to the star’s home in Long Beach, California. Both men made citizen’s arrests, with Rios accusing James of damaging his car in a scuffle. James was cited for vandalism, but no charges were made against him. Police raided Rios’ home earlier this month and confiscated several items including videotapes and photographs as part of their investigation. But officers decided to put any further inquiries on hold until James is released from rehab next month. James’ publicist issued a statement claiming James would spend April in treatment for an undisclosed issue following allegations he cheated on Bullock.
Actor Wants $50 Million For Being ‘Imprisoned’ At The Oscars
An actor denied entrance to the Oscars last month has sued the Academy for false imprisonment, claiming he and his wife were detained for hours without their consent. Michael Avmen, who appears in the upcoming films “Battle: Los Angeles” and “Straw Dogs,” claims he and his wife Mandy were unlawfully imprisoned outside the ceremony after a ticket mix-up. Avmen says his publicist arranged for him to attend the March 7th ceremony at the Kodak Theater and told him he could pick up his tickets once inside the venue. But when the couple arrived on the red carpet without tickets, they say they were “rushed away to an AMPAS detention center where they were held and questioned about how they had been able to get onto the red carpet.” Six hours later, they were transferred to the police station and released without charges. They want $50 million in damages from the Academy.

Lindsay Lohan has been dropped from her latest film, “The Other Side.” Sources close to the project, which stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette, claim that people financing the film deemed her not “bankable.” Director David Michaels told TMZ, “Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay.”
Contacting Aliens ‘A Bad Idea’ Warns Hawking
Aliens are very likely to be out there, according to eminent scientist Stephen Hawking – but we should keep quiet and hope they don’t notice us. The theoretical physicist says aliens may look to conquer and colonize. In a new documentary for the Discovery Channel, Hawking claims such space life would only abuse Earth’s resources and move on. “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet,” he said. “I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet.” He says if aliens visit us, the outcome would be similar to when Columbus landed in America, “which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.” The documentary, “Into the Universe,” took three years to complete and was spearheaded by Hawking, who suffers from neuro-muscular dystrophy.

Dierks Bentley couldn’t be more excited to incorporate his longtime pals, the Travelin’ McCourys, on his new bluegrass album, Up on the Ridge. Dierks has known the guys since he moved to Nashville in 1994, and was even the groomsmen for fiddler, Jason Carter’s wedding. Dierks says, “I feel lucky and honored to play the host, to bring these guys and their music to my audience. They’re some of the greatest musicians in the world.”

Sugarland is planning to introduce music from their upcoming album The Incredible Machine to fans in concert rather than on the radio. (Cut # 3) “Fans will all start to hear the record as we play it, not as we release it. So, we will start to release it and you will get to hear the beautiful studio version of those songs but you will hear some of those songs as we go through the year.” Jennifer Nettles tells Billboard magazine the album will have 10 or 11 tracks on it and they recorded the project in Atlanta where they also recorded their 2008 album Love on the Inside.

Carrie Underwood tells US Magazine she stays slim by avoiding fast food, admitting it isn’t easy. Carrie says, “I think the hardest thing about what I do is eating healthy because were all over the place.” Carrie also says working out is a big part of it and avoiding all of the food she gets after her shows. A 99-year-old Lake Oswego, Oregon, woman stars in a YouTube video that’s gone viral. The clip shows Virginia Campbell sitting on a sofa in her apartment at a retirement community using her new Apple iPad. Campbell, who graduated from Reed College in the early 1930s with a bachelor degree in English literature, has always been an avid reader and writer. But she suffers from glaucoma, making it extremely difficult to engage in her favorite pastime. But thanks to the new iPad, Campbell is now reading books and writing limericks. Campbell has never owned a computer or a Kindle before. However, when she heard all the hype about the iPad she wanted one. The iPad has “changed her life,” Campbell’s daughter said, thanks to its ability to increase the size of text to a readable level.

Jimmy Wayne’s Walk Gets Ink In Ladies Home Journal
Jimmy Wayne is featured on the Ladies Home Journal’s Web site, where he’s praised for his Meet Me Halfway initiative. Written by managing editor Ron Kelly, the feature applauds Wayne for his work on behalf of homeless teens, particularly foster children who age out of the foster care system. Now closing in on nearly 1,000 miles of walking, Jimmy is expected to reach Phoenix by mid-June, a longer amount of time than originally expected, but he says it’s well worth the journey. “I have met some incredibly kind and generous people along the way,” Jimmy says.

Roethlisberger Banned For 6 Games
NFL quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may have avoided sexual assault charges in Georgia, but the Pittsburgh Steelers player has been banned from playing in the first six games of the season. Roethlisberger was banned without pay for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy and ordered to undergo a “comprehensive behavioral evaluation by professionals.” The NFL handed down the punishment after prosecutors decided not to charge Roethlisberger in a case involving a 20-year-old college student who accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Georgia nightclub last month. Sitting out all six games will cost Roethlisberger $2.8 million, though the penalty could be shortened to four games for good behavior.

A missing handwritten transcript from a coroner’s inquest done after the legendary gunfight at the OK Corral has resurfaced in a dusty box more than 125 years after the most famous shootout in Wild West history. The document was last seen when it was photocopied in the 1960s. It was found when court clerks in Arizona stumbled on the box while reorganizing files in an old jail storage room in Bisbee, about 20 miles south of Tombstone, where the battle took place. The inquest was done by coroner Henry M. Matthews after Wyatt Earp, his two brothers and Doc Holiday confronted a gang of drunken outlaws, sparking a 30-second gunfight in the streets of Tombstone that killed Frank and Tom McLaury and Bill Clanton.

Kal Penn Robbed At Gunpoint
Actor Kal Penn was robbed at gunpoint yesterday. Penn is a UCLA graduate best known for his roles in the movie “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” and the TV series “House.” He took a break from acting last year to work as associate director of public engagement for the Obama administration. TMZ said a man with a gun approached Penn at about 1:20 a.m. yesterday as the actor was walking through Washington and took his wallet and other personal property. Police are investigating.
