A new survey finds that people who take a mid-afternoon siesta may improve their smarts. While the findings are preliminary, the research suggests an afternoon nap can help humans to remember more. A group of students from the University of California at Berkeley were split into two groups. One group took afternoon naps while the other did not. Those who did not take the nap performed about 10% worse than those who napped. Researchers also said that a person’s ability to learn declines about 10% between noon and 6 p.m., but in their study, nappers were able to overcome the “dumb” period.
